Weekend Round Up!

I love Winnipeg. Why? Because I can get practically any Star Wars character custom made out of needle felt. For some reason, when asked which character I would like by Kornelius von Bergen (the creator of these fantastic Star Wars homages), the only character I could think of was Admiral Ackbar. And I couldn’t be happier.

Kornelius von Bergen belongs to a crew of needle felters/crafters, including Lisa King (the one who makes those mustache necklaces that we featured earlier in the year. Take a swing by their blog to check out more crafts.
My lady partner Kate and I spent the weekend at The Tallest Poppy doing the artist residency. We weren’t really sure what we were doing until we got there, so we just brought a lot of felt, pipe cleaner, way too many googly eyes and a bag of stuffing. I decided to make some coffee cup caddies (inspired by the cereal bowl caddies of my childhood) and Kate made breakfast themed finger puppets. In return we got to eat a delicious Saturday breakfast followed by their famous Sunday brunch. If you haven’t already been to The Tallest Poppy, I highly recommend it.

How to stay warm in a Winnpeg Winter.

And now, introducing Chromas Ramms:
Our very own Andrew Workman plays in the shake n’ rock n’ roll band Ian La Rue & The Condor. Here’s a video from their show this weekend:
And since we’re on the topic, if you’re in Winnipeg on December 12, Ian La Rue & The Condor is shooting a video for a track called Sanguine Cursive. It’s off their upcoming album. Details and RSVPing here.
We had an after work party one evening on the roof top of our building. It was a pretty fun time until tragedy struck. We will always remember you Andrew…

Here are some memories from our Hallowe’en!
This is me dressed up as Chippy from Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job!
Here chip chip!

Mark and Cindy. A rocker and the bride of Frakenstein, respectively.

There’s my chippy:

*Please note that Chris Kroeker isn’t in any of the photos. More on that tomorrow!
Out for a lovely lunch-time stroll, we came across a friendly looking astroturf covered, face-shaped wooden stand. The purpose for this new green friend? Free coffee with nothing expected in return. And the best part was nobody got sick!
The bottom line of the sign reads: A gift given with no hope of profit or return is an imaginary gift.
